It all started back in 1996. The company founder (Greg Haxton) found himself in the closeout aisle of a local Kmart that was actually closing. They had a fair amount of golf balls to get rid of and were selling at 75% off. Problem was the packaging was all damaged. Knowing a good deal when he saw one he bought all the store had.
The idea was to logo the balls and sell them. Problem was golf balls in the promotion business were packaged. Nobody handed out loose balls. Then the idea hit. Why not put the same logo on the balls on the packaging? He tried every local packaging place and no one would co-operate unless the runs were in the 10,000 quantities. So he figured out how to make small run packaging.
Once the process was done, the company got noticed. Not only by Wilson but Titleist, Spalding, Nike and Callaway. All were impressed enough that they opened up accounts with the company. And at times we have provided packaging to all of them.
We moved from a bedroom operation to garage operation. In 1999, when my wife couldn't park in the garage and with 2 pallets of golf balls on the patio, she put here foot down and off we moved to our current location. The company incorporated in 2000 and has done work in every section of the economy. From law firms, to auto makers to liquor companies and everything in between Golfbox.com has seen it all. We did golf balls during the Bush V Gore era. They were named GOREBALLS. Then in 2008 we manufactured the Sleazeball line with Bernie Madoff as the featured sleazeball.
But we have always focused on the business community. 23 years and still going.
